The Truth about the various Books
Claiming to be God's Holy Word.
The Gospel According to Saint Matthew,
Chapter 26:
Verses
26:
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake
it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27:
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye
all of it;
28:
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the
remission of sins.
The Gospel According to Saint John,
Chapter 1:
Verses
1:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
2:
The same was in the beginning with God.
3:
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was
made.
4:
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5:
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6:
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7:
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men
through him might believe.
8:
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9:
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the
world.
10:
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him
not.
11:
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12:
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name:
13:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will
of man, but of God.
14:
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The First Epistle to the Corinthians,
Chapter 11:
Verses
24:
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this
is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25:
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This
cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in
remembrance of me.
26:
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the
Lord's death till he come.
27:
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord,
unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28:
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink
of that cup.
29:
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to
himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30:
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31:
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32:
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be
condemned with the world.
The Book of Deuteronomy,
Chapter 4:
Verses
2:
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye
diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your
God which I command you.
The Book of Revelation,
Chapter 22:
Verses
18:
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this
book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the
plagues that are written in this book:
19:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
The Book of The Prophet Isaiah,
Chapter 24:
Verses
1:
Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it
upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
2:
And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the
servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with
the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as
with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
3:
The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath
spoken this word.
4:
The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away,
the haughty people of the earth do languish.
5:
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have
transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting
covenant.
6:
Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are
desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few
men left.
A Paraphrased explanation of the above scriptures,
By David Nettles:
When a Christian uses a book purported to be God's word
that is in fact either translated from a corruption of the original text or has had it's
meaning changed, he or she then becomes guilty of the curses above. This is particularly true
of the curses pertaining to communion, because Jesus is God's written word in fleshly form.
To my knowledge the King James Version of the Bible is the only English version in common use
today in which the text is in the public domain and not copy protected (Except in the UK),
however a copyright may appear on the inside cover of a KJV Bible because the publisher has
the right to copyright any statements, maps, etc. made in addition to the KJV text, just as I
claim the right to the HTML formating involved in the "Web Browser Bible"
posted on this site. I believe that ALL other English versions in common use today are
copyrighted as derivative works, meaning that they are in some manner changed from the
original King James, or translated from a different Greek Text. To my knowledge the KJV is the
only English translation taken directly from the original Hebrew or Greek to English. To my
knowledge, ALL others are derived, either from the King James, or from text other than the
original Hebrew or Greek. Of late the issue of translations into other languages has come up. The King James Version
is a translation into English. Any translation must be done with diligence in the preservation
of the meaning of the original text, and of course must be from a correctly preserved text.
This was done with the King James Version to the best ability of the King's translators. Any
translation which alters the original meaning or leaves out parts of the text is not a true
translation and cannot be trusted. Of course, the real issue is one of trust!
